Click on one of the links below and you can use the Internet to safely and securely e-file your West Virginia state tax return from your home computer.

The links provide access to software that has been tested and approved as compatible with the West Virginia Electronic Filing Program. There is no software to install and the program guides you through the process.

State tax information is transferred directly from the federal return, saving time. As you complete your tax return, the software will automatically check for errors, providing you the opportunity to correct the return before you send it in. Return accuracy is one of the main reasons for the rapid growth and popularity of the e-file program. You can also check to see if you qualify for the Free File Program .

When you are ready to transmit your returns, both federal and state returns should be sent at the same time if possible, even if there is a balance of tax due for one. (See the section on Balance Due Returns ). This provides the most accurate way to file. Use Direct Deposit for the fastest refunds. Both returns will be acknowledged to your e-mail address, the federal first, and then the state approximately 48 hours later to complete the process. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within one week, please contact Taxpayer Services for additional help.
